Any vet
can implant a microchip in your animal that will help you find your
pet if it ever becomes lost. It causes only a moment of mild
discomfort, and the cost averages $50. Unfortunately, these chips
aren’t tracking devices (not yet, anyway). But if your furry friend
has a chip and she’s turned in at a vet’s practice or SPCA, a scanner can
provide a conclusive ID. By referring to a database, the vet will
then be able to find your contact details.
To our Customers
If you have purchased a Maltese from us, we would

"Happy, charming &
full of love." These are the kinds of
words Maltese owners use to describe these special little dogs.
With its long, elegant white coat, the Maltese is an aristocrat in the
canine world. Gentle, affectionate, and personable, these dogs become
quite attached to their owners. Petite but fearless and smart, they are
ideal companion dogs.

Our Dogs
Hollie,
left, is a sassy sweetie & "queen bee" of the
pack. She makes me laugh everyday with her antics. She
also has a very strong maternal instinct, mothering Danny, Sasha &
Jasmine with a
daily face wash.
We call Daniel our
"little man" because although he is very
tiny, he lets Hollie,
Sasha & Jasmine know that he is the boss. He has also
been very happy to father all the litters. Daniel is a very gentle dog & has
a sweet, affectionate temperament, which is common in the males of this breed.
Sasha,
our third Maltese, is a real sweetie! She is the beauty pictured at
top
left above our
links column (her mom is a beauty & was a show dog!). She is an amazing dog...one
of those rare pets you come across only once or twice in your life.
We bought her just 3 months after we got Hollie & Daniel. She makes us
laugh every single day. Sasha is extremely intelligent which keeps me
on my toes.
She is a real beauty with fine, silky hair
&
big eyes. Jasmine
has a very playful personality, but also loves to
kiss
& cuddle. She's very gentle & is loved
by everyone who meets
her.
Please pay attention to
how much your Maltese is eating!!
A Maltese is prone to hypoglycemic attacks
if they are not getting enough
to eat. Symptoms include lethargy, fainting & dizziness. If this
happens, immediately soften some dry food with milk or water, or use
canned food, and hand-feed it to them. Do this for the next
couple of days.
Carefully monitor their food intake for
several days until you see they are eating the right amount at each
meal. If the symptoms continue for
more than 1 day; or you can't get your dog to eat, get the dog to
your vet immediately.
"Happy, charming &
full of love." These are the kinds of words Maltese owners
use to describe these special little dogs with their long,
white coats. The Maltese breed standard (a written blueprint
of the ideal Maltese drafted by the AMA) describes the
Maltese temperament as fearless, trusting & affectionate.
"It is among the gentlest mannered of all the little dogs,
yet it is lively and playful, as well as vigorous," the
standard says. The Maltese is all that & more.

The American Maltese Association highly recommends that you
do not purchase a puppy under 12 weeks of age. A puppy under
this age is subject to stress from conditions such as
over-handling and not getting enough rest or refusing to eat
due to changes in home and/or food. This stress can result
in "hypoglycemia" - a condition in which the blood-sugar
level drops causing seizures and possible coma and an
emergency visit to the veterinarian.

Evie &
Jasmine
This was Jasmine's first time with our groomer, Evelyn, owner of
Suds 'N Hugs in Tonawanda. She was
very calm through the entire procedure & seemed to really enjoy Evie's
attention. See below for Evie's business
information.

Evie has been our groomer
since 2004. She gives preferential treatment to anyone who brings in
a Maltese purchased from us. Our dogs all love "Aunt Evie"
which makes the grooming experience very pleasurable for them. Give
her a call & tell her Joanne Conta recommended you.
The house feels so empty without the pitter-patter of tiny, white
feet. We were lucky to find someone who wanted both Katie and
Conner...an ideal situation for Conner who is so shy. I know
he'll adjust to his new home just fine with Katie to keep him
company. Scooby, who is also shy, needed a quiet home without
young kids. Since it is almost impossible to find just that
kind of situation, we decided to keep him. He had become my
boy, following me around the house all day. He had also become
part of my "pack" and was adjusting to everything well. Then,
we got a call from an older couple with the perfect home for Scooby.
Even though I wanted to keep him, I knew having 5 dogs would be too
much work for me. So, after talking with Don, I knew Scooby
would be very happy with him & his wife. I have already had a
call from his new parents to let me know that Scooby had settled in
right away & was having a wonderful time. Once again, we were
lucky to find wonderful homes for all the puppies, even in this
horrid economy.
Jasmine has been a little mopy since Scooby left. She and I
miss him terribly; as well as Katie & Conner. But, spring is
in the air here in North Harmony, so it won't be long before I can
take my pack out for their daily walks. That will perk Jasmine
up. Will spotted a Robin the other day, & I saw a Bluejay &
heard the pretty call of a Cardinal. Now that our birds are
back, warmer weather isn't too far behind.
It has
been an incredible journey for us as well as for all our dogs.
I know I will miss having puppies to help bring into this world; to
raise them, teach them & love them. But, mostly I will miss seeing
the happy smiles on a new owner's face as they hold their new best
friend. Will & I have met some wonderful people, many who have
become friends.
I plan to
keep my web site going, adding informative articles to it as I have
the time. And, I will continue to post updated photos of my
dogs & all our puppies whenever anyone sends them to me. Last,
I will always be available to Maltese owners, old and new, who have
a question. I can be reached at 716-857-0378.
